Children in Need

Wow – what a great community effort from everyone at HMS today!  Each form class worked hard to prepare their own stall for our ‘Big Children in Need Fair’ and it was a HUGE success! School has been buzzing with excitement as we all worked together to raise funds for such a wide range of important charities. Well done everyone

Rugby News

Mrs Barnett was lucky enough to accompany the Year 8 and 9 Girls’ Rugby Team to Ponteland yesterday. It was lovely to arrive to sunshine rather than the wet day we had last time. Clubs Update

As we move into the winter months, we have two new indoor sports clubs starting next week. No need to sign up – pupils can just come along and have fun! KS3 Netball Club is also returning from Monday! Respect. Engage. Aspire. 

Chess Competition

Our Chess Team had a very exciting evening at Bede Academy in Blyth as they took part in the first chess tournament of the year. It was a successful event and the team represented the school superbly! The team are so enthusiastic and highly-skilled and we can’t wait to see them going from strength to strength as the year goes

War Horse

Over 150 HMS pupils visited Sunderland Empire to see a fantastic production of ‘War Horse’ yesterday. It was a powerful and moving show and everyone had a great afternoon. Year 7 study ‘War Horse’ as one of the texts in English lessons and this was a wonderful opportunity to enrich their learning. The pupils engaged well and enjoyed this experience!

Cross Country Update

This week, pupils travelled to Ovingham for the first round of the English Schools Cross Country. This is an individual event with the top 16 qualifying for the next round in January at Temple Park. We are delighted to say that we had fantastic results across both schools with 37 out of 50 students attending going through to the next
