London Day 2

London Day 2 Our London explorers had a fantastic, action-packed second day! The day started with a visit to The Olympic Park where the group had two fantastic guides to explain the regeneration of Stratford and The Lea Valley area. It was great to see the famous Olympic venues! After that, the group strolled and shopped in Covent Garden, taking

Chris Smith Author Visit

A hall full of excited Y5s greeted author and broadcaster, Chris Smith, on Tuesday afternoon. Chris engaged with them immediately, with almost every hand up to answer his questions about reading and books, and to offer imaginative story suggestions. He encouraged us all to think about structuring a story and adding detail to heroes and villains to make us want

London Trip 2024

An excited group of Year 7 pupils left HMS early yesterday morning to start their adventure in London! The journey south went well and the group made their first stop at the home of the WW2 code breakers – Bletchley Park – where they enjoyed visiting the house, war huts and other exhibitions. The pupils also got the chance to

Miss Elliott and the rest of the DT Team have been very impressed with the final Year 8 project this term. Pupils have been designing and making their own mobile phone holders. Pip is still very young so won’t be properly joining the school until September but she will

HMS Summer Show

It was a night of joy and celebration as pupils from across the school put on an outstanding performance.  The show included performances from our very talented musicians, including our choirs, soloists, the HMS Orchestra, the string group, pianists, flautists, dancers and our HMS Rock Band. The courage, dedication and

Cricket Finals

It’s been a busy week of sport at HMS. A huge well done to our Y7 and Y8 girls cricket team who competed in the county finals competition and finished 3rd in the county. The girls were superb throughout the competition, improving as a team all the time. The girls won their group, going unbeaten and only lost their semi-final

Rugby Success

A fantastic afternoon of tag rugby was had in the sunshine at Kingston Park – the home of Newcastle Falcons. HMS took four mixed teams of Year 5 & 6 and played against other schools. The focus of the afternoon was largely recreational rather than competitive, looking to inspire the next generation of players. However, our teams certainly performed extremely
