BBC 500 Words

This week, Year 5 joined the live launch of the BBC 500 Words short story competition. Year 5 listened to this year’s judges including Frank Cottrell-Boyce, Francesca Simon and Charlie Higson who shared tips and answered questions on the writing process. World Mental Health Day

Pupils are invited to take part in ‘Hello Yellow Day’ on Friday 13th October. It will be a ‘wear your own clothes day’ for all pupils with a focus on wearing something yellow. If pupils don’t have anything yellow, non-uniform is absolutely fine. European Day of Languages

Wow – Mr Armstrong was blown away by the engagement in this year’s ‘Bake Off’. With over 65 phenomenal entries, judging was a very tricky task for all involved. Year 5 enjoyed an inspiring visit from Newcastle University yesterday. The workshop presents the ‘Story of Earth’ from its very first day through to now, with a variety of exciting experiments along the way. Mr Nichol enjoyed being asked to join the show along with some pupil volunteers.
