HMS School Council

We were delighted to welcome local councillors, Trevor Cessford and Suzanne Fairless-Aitken, to our first HMS School Council session of the year today.  Trevor and Suzanne shared their experiences of being on the Hexham Town Council and what their roles involve. Library Research Projects

This year, KS3 are completing project-based learning during their library visits. Hiba Noor Khan visit – a story of unity and hope

We were so excited to welcome Hiba Noor Khan to HMS on Tuesday afternoon. Hiba came to present her first novel, ‘Safiyyah’s War’, to Y5 and Y6. STEM Event

We welcomed Newcastle University again this morning to work with our Year 7 girls in a workshop focused on STEM. The session focused on careers in STEM and the power of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in opening up opportunities. It was great to see such positive engagement!

Welcome to HMS Arlo!

It was Arlo’s first day working at our schools today. The children were very excited to see him at breaktime. Here’s Jack showing Arlo around HMS and welcoming him to the school. We are looking forward to seeing him around school as the term goes on.

House Captains

Democracy was in action at HMS on Friday as we held our annual House Hustings. I am delighted to announce the results of the election and this year’s House Captain team. The pupils will work as a partnership as House Captains and will represent their house at school events throughout the year. Congratulations to everyone who applied – it takes
