Newcastle University have invited HMS pupils to take part in the 2020 Maths Challenge. The aim of the challenge is to enhance the pupils’ study of mathematics and encourage them to further their study of the subject. Year 8 completed their food technology rotation this month by taking part in the Tunnock’s Teacake Challenge. They worked in pairs and had 25 minutes to present a Tunnock’s teacake. They practised a variety of food styling techniques; here are a few of the outcomes!
Year 7 have been practising their food styling and using their creative skills this week. They were given 25 minutes to present a fried egg. They were given two slices of bread, tomatoes, salad leaves, coriander and one egg. They worked in teams of three and they produced some excellent outcomes!

On Friday afternoon the Year 7 boys were in action in the last 16 of the National finals for the Champions Cup. They were representing the North East against Yorkshire in what was a magnificent game!
