HMS athletes braved the cold and snow showers running in the County Cross Country Championships this week. HMS had four runners who finished in qualifying positions to compete in the Inter-County Championships in Middlesbrough. Wilfred P capped a couple of successful days finishing an excellent 5th place (he was racing Year 9 boys!). Wilfred had placed an impressive second place in the National Cyclocross Championships in Scotland on Saturday – we are very proud of him! Emilia S ran excellently, also against the Year 9 girls to finish in a very impressive 8th place. Ossie D and Nicholas Y ran brilliantly in the Year 7 boys’ race finishing in a very impressive 5th and 10th place respectively.
The other HMS athletes all performed to a high standard in their races and contributed to the Tynedale Area winning the Gill Mooney Cup. This cup is won by the best performing area at the championships – a brilliant result for all the pupils in Tynedale.
Special credit goes to Clara H, Annabelle M, Connie R, Kyle R, Charlie M, Jake D, Winnie L, Beth N, Noah A and Billy B, who represented HMS with pride in tough conditions.
