Last week was another busy week for our sports teams:
HMS Year 8 boys were in action in the football county cup against an extremely strong Ashington side. In what was a very even game HMS missed a number of chances early on which they later regretted after falling behind to a deflected shot. Judah then equalised after some quick thinking from Hugo. Man of the match Harry made save after save but was eventually beaten from what proved to be the winning goal. A special thank you to Taylor who stepped up an age group to help the Year 8s out who were missing a key defender and he played extremely well in what was a high class game.
The next day there were back to back games for the Year 8s but against St Joseph’s, HMS performed extremely well. A 10-0 win was summed up with stand-out performances from captain on the day James and man of the match Will. Goals came from Alex x3, Luca, Will, Max (sensational goal), Matthew (equally sensational), Hugo x2, and James
Alongside the Year 8s, the Year 6 boys team kickstarted their season against extremely tough opposition in St Joseph’s Year 6 who had a number of stand-out players. After great play in the first half HMS were unlucky not to get a goal and then fell behind to a fortuitous goal. Luke managed an equaliser but they couldn’t get another before St Joes got a second. A few things to learn ahead of their county cup competition in a few weeks time but great performance by captain Ted and debutante David give a lot of promising signs for the season.
