Last Friday, Mr Barry and Mrs Box and took three boccia teams to compete in the Smile Boccia Championship. Boccia is a Paralympic sport and it was a great sport for some of our pupils to compete at. The pupils’ attitudes were impeccable and as well as learning new skills and achieving success, it was the way they celebrated the success of others that made it such an enjoyable day.
Top stats from the day:
Year 5 went unbeaten throughout the group stage and qualified for the semi-finals, winning every game along the way. They beat students as old as Year 9 to get there! They lost in an incredible semi-final 3–2 with a losing margin of 3cm… an incredible performance!
Year 6 played some memorable shots throughout the day and beat a side with England’s newly crowned Boccia Player of the Year in it! A brilliant showing by Year 6!
Our Year 7s showed leadership, helping the younger teams and also recorded some huge winning scores! The technique on show here shows brilliant promise for the future!
