Peer Mentor Training
Stacey from ‘Be You- Northumbria Health Care Trust’ came to deliver ‘Peer Mentor’ training to some Year 8 pupils today. The session focused on the key aspects of being a peer mentor including communication. The first task required the peer mentors to complete an A-Z of positive words to describe themselves. Some examples included: joyful, efficient, imaginative and trustworthy!
It was important for the peer mentors to understand what exactly their role would be in school. Looking at a job description, they discussed what they understood their role would involve. The team shared their ideas and together they created the job description for the HMS Peer Mentors. All pupils have been recommended for an AQA qualification – Miss Tauk was very proud of them all!
