Mrs Barnett was lucky enough to accompany the Year 8 and 9 Girls’ Rugby Team to Ponteland yesterday. It was lovely to arrive to sunshine rather than the wet day we had last time. This meant that we were able to play on the grass pitch much to the delight of all our players. Our team made a very strong start, running in 5 tries before half time. There was some excellent footwork and avoidance skills from Connie to score one of the tries.
In the second half, Ponteland came back with a determined attack and Mia S and Annabelle M had to make some make some exceptional tackles to stop them scoring even more tries. Sophie S was also an outstanding player – always in the mix and ferreting the ball out to set her team mates off on an attack. There was a great team effort from the mixed squad of Y8 &Y9s.
Well done everyone – you were exceptional ambassadors – you made our schools very proud!
