15 pupils represented Hexham Middle School in the First Lego League Tournament against other schools from across the North East. Together, they built and programmed two Lego robots to travel through a maze and solve various puzzles. Judges were particularly impressed with their creative forklift design that could operate levers.
Team HMS came a very respectable fourth place, and picked up ideas to improve their robots in future years. They showed great sportsmanship and were cheering on entries from other schools in the competition.
Special mention must go to Tristan and Gruffydd, who managed to rebuild and reprogramme their robots after disaster struck in the first round.
Thank you to Mr Forster and Mr Nicholson for their support!
