Coronation Celebrations

Coronation Celebrations
At HMS, children are invited to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort Camilla.

Coronation Lunch – Friday 5th May
Our catering team will be preparing a special King’s Coronation Lunch in the style of Great British Afternoon Tea. There is no need to pre-order – lunch will be served at the usual time and at the usual price. Pupils will be able to enjoy a special picnic lunch consisting of:
  • A selection of sandwiches
  • Coronation quiche
  • Sausage roll
  • Jubilee cake
  • Royal strawberry trifle
  • Coronation cookies
  • Fresh fruit
Coronation Through the Years
In the days prior to the Coronation, all pupils will be having a special history lesson focussing on the event. Lessons will:
  • aim to contextualise the event by looking at coronations from the past 200 years.
  • feature photographs and images to see how the traditions of the Coronation have been upheld, as well as looking at what innovations have been introduced.
  • focus on the festivities of Coronations and explain the impact that ceremonies have had on everyday people in Britain throughout history.
Coronation Quiche Competition
Children are invited to create their own version of the Coronation Quiche! Our food technology teacher, Ms Kwella, would like to challenge HMS pupils to create their own version of the Coronation Quiche. Please send in photos of your dish and a recipe to HMS Admin by Monday 8th May 2023. We look forward to seeing your tasty quiche creations! For more information about the original recipe please click here: https://www.royal.uk/the-coronation-quiche

Red, White and Blue Day

Children are invited to wear red, white and blue clothing on Friday 5th May. Children can of course wear their normal school uniform if they’d prefer. They may also wish to wear some Union Jack themed accessories.
