At the Tynedale Awards on Sunday night it was a fantastic evening in which we had a number of pupils nominated:
Last years’ Year 5 and Year 6 orienteering teams were both nominated after winning the county championships in orienteering. The teams performed extremely well throughout the competition and were deserving of their shortlisting for team of the year.
Also nominated for team of the year were our Year 8 cricket team from last year. The team won both indoor and outdoor area and county championships without losing a single game. It was also great to see that some of the boys have continued with their sport at Queen Elizabeth this year and are continuing to develop.
Finally Hugo McNichol was shortlisted for young sportsman of they year for his achievements with football, hockey and multiple other sports. However his main contribution came in his record-setting athletics season winning three county championships in the 200m, long jump and relay.
A fantastic night showcasing the achievements in the Tynedale area but also showing the strength we have here at Hexham Middle School. We hope to build on that this year.
